In the past, the Grand & Glrorius has featured over 75 vendors, charities, and entertainment groups on a blocked off Main St. and has become a signature fall activity on the downtown scene. The event is tentatively scheduled to return next year on September 11th, 2021.
“It is simply not feasible to hold an event such as this and comply with social distancing guidelines and common sense health/safety practices,” said Chris Shields, president of the Choral Society.
The event has for many years been the major fund raising activity for the Catskill Choral Society, Oneonta’s premier choral singing group for exactly 50 years, since its founding in 1970. “It is disheartening that we are faced with this situation as we look forward to our golden anniversary 2020-2021 season,” said Shields. “We had to cancel both our spring 2020 concert and our fund raising golf tournament. Because choral singing packs people closely together in rehearsals while they are doing a lot of deep breathing, even our fall concert cycle is in doubt,. We rely on fund raising events like the GGGS, supplemented by grants, ticket sales, member dues, and gifts from supporters to finance our concerts and programs.”
A Fund for the 50th has been established to help offset the impact of the pandemic. If you can support the Catskill Choral Society, please visit:
